CIFFA promotes Stephen McDermott to Director, Education and Training

TORONTO, Ont.–Stephen McDermott has been promoted to Director Education and Training with the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association, announced Ruth Snowden, Executive Director.
McDermott was promoted with the full approval of the President and Executive Committee. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Guelph University, and armed with a post-grad degree in Human Resource Management from Seneca College, McDermott began his career with Bell Canada training and development. Continuing his education with a variety of adult education courses, Stephen attained his Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) designation from the CSTD while working as a training and education professional for 16 years.
Since joining CIFFA in 2011, McDermott has implemented many new education and training offerings and delivery methods to benefit the learning needs of its members. Some of these new strategies include new online lessons, exercises and exams for the CIFFA certificate programs, and the implementation of E-learning on demand. McDermott currently teaches the FIATA/ICAO and IATA Air Dangerous Goods course, and works diligently to find new ways to offer training to satisfy the needs of Canadian Freight Forwarders and others in the global supply chain.
“Stephen will take an active role now with the national board of directors, helping ensure the association continues to deliver the training that practitioners need to succeed in today’s world of global trade. Since joining CIFFA in September 2011 Stephen has been instrumental in driving growth in education while introducing innovative solutions that reduce costs. The Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) represents some 250 small, medium and large freight forwarding companies in Canada, and has 139 Associate Members offering products and services to Regular Members.
