CITT elects Robert Ramsay as new Chair

TORONTO, Ont.– Robert Ramsay has been elected as the new Chair of the CITT Board of Directors for 2013-14. Ramsay was elected at CITT’s 55th Annual General Meeting held on Monday, November 4th during the 2013 National Conference on Supply Chain and Logistics in Toronto. He succeeds outgoing Chair Warren Sarafinchan, CCLP.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to have been nominated and elected to the role of CITT Chair,” said Mr. Ramsay. “My primary goal will be to ensure that as an organization we remain forward thinking and that we continue to deliver tangible value for our membership in addition to maintaining CITT’s core values. I will endeavor to maintain the momentum and progress made by previous boards and under the leadership of my predecessor.”
Ramsay has worked in supply chain and logistics for three decades. From 1998 to 2013, he was an Associate Vice President with Canadian Tire Corporation based in Brampton, Ontario where his primary areas of responsibility were in operations within their supply chain. Throughout his nearly 28 years with Canadian Tire. Ramsay worked in a number of distribution and transportation roles after first joining the organization in Edmonton Alberta. These positions included responsibility for facility management, distribution, vendor direct shipments, dispatch, fleet operations and fleet services. As an Associate Vice President, Mr Ramsay held roles accountable for domestic transportation operations, international transportation & customs, distribution services, supply chain reverse flow and regional operations.
As the new Chair, Ramsay will be leading CITT into its 56th year. And with CITT’s announcement last week that the new designation name CCLP (CITT-Certified Logistics Professional) has been officially adopted by the membership, Ramsaywill also be leading CITT into a new era, said a CITT release. He brings with him to the position of Chair an extensive business management background, high-level industry perspective and board experience. From 2011 to 2013, he served as Vice Chair, Rules, on the CITT Board of Directors and was Director at Large from 2008 to 2010. He also led the By-Laws Committee Task Force.
His ongoing service and dedication to the Board was the result of his strong belief in the professional worth of CITT.
“I have always found that CITT and its designation served to strengthen the foundation I needed for a successful, long-term career in logistics,” said Ramsay. “It’s a great avenue for building industry contacts and for staying one step ahead of what is really challenging the business community today.”
Ramsay graduated from the University of Regina in 1983 with a Bachelor of Administration degree. He earned his designation from CITT in 2005.
