CHICAGO, Ill.–The International Federation of Customs Brokers Associations (IFCBA), an organization representing the interests of customs brokers and their clients across the globe, has appointed Candace Sider, senior customs and trade executive for Livingston International to its newly elected board of directors.

In her new position, Sider will represent Canada, serving as one of IFCBA’s Managing Directors and its Treasurer. Sider previously served on the IFCBA Board of Directors between 2008 and 2010, said a company release.

“I’m honored to serve my second term on the IFCBA Board of Directors alongside some of the best minds in the international trade community,” Sider said. “I look forward to working together over the next two years to assist the board with improvements in customs policies and practices on a global basis.”

The IFCBA made the announcement of its new Board members during the association’s bi-annual conference held recently in Seoul, Korea.

As a member of the Board, Sider helped set the association’s direction for the coming year. The Board will focus on themes of leadership through expertise and innovation, promotion of training and education, and strengthening global connections by networking with members as well as other stakeholders on trade facilitation initiatives, including the WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation.

In her work for Livingston International, Sider leads the company’s Canadian regulatory affairs group, working with various Canadian government departments and agencies to help shape the policies and procedures governing trade in the ever-evolving marketplace.

With more than 35 years of experience in the customs and trade industry with specific focus on compliance, corporate governance, risk management, advocacy and trade promotion, Sider helps Livingston develop business solutions that will meet the future needs of the international trade community, the release added.

In addition to her previous IFCBA board service, Sider formerly served as Chair of the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB) from 2008 to 2011 and was a CSCB Executive Board Member from 2012 to 2013, as well as the immediate past Chair from 2012 to 2013. She also served on the CSCB Board of Directors from 2004 to 2008, and on the Advisory Board of the Certified Trade Compliance Specialist Program.

Sider is a CSCB Certified Customs Specialist and Certified Trade Compliance Specialist, in addition to holding a Professional License from the Canada Border Services Agency.
