Prince Rupert Port Authority welcomes Kenneth Clayton to Board of Directors

PRINCE RUPERT, B.C.–The Prince Rupert Port Authority has welcomed to its Board of Directors  Kenneth Clayton, P.Eng., a resident of South Delta, BC and President of Humphrey Construction, Ltd.

Clayton was appointed on the recommendation of the Minister of Transport in consultation with the Prince Rupert Port Authority’s User Nominating Committee.

“On behalf of the Board and our staff, I congratulate and welcome Ken,” said Bud Smith, Chairman of the Board of the Prince Rupert Port Authority.

“Considering his four decades as a professional civil engineer, and the executive leadership he demonstrates in the private sector, he will be an essential member of our governance team as the port accelerates its unprecedented development and expansion.”

Clayton grew up in Tsawwassen, BC, and graduated from the University of British Columbia’s Civil Engineering Program in 1971. Before joining Humphrey Construction Ltd. as a project engineer, he worked for companies in the hydroelectric and concrete manufacturing fields.

Since 1990, he has served as President of Humphrey Construction, a general contracting firm whose projects include many in the mining, port and fishing industries throughout North America. In 2010 he was made a Fellow of Engineers Canada, a distinction honouring individuals who have given noteworthy service to the engineering profession.

“Engineering and construction have been a lifetime commitment and career, one that I have enjoyed — and one that I remain totally involved in and passionate about,” said  Clayton. “It will be a privilege to be able to use my experience to help guide the Port of Prince Rupert’s growth and development in concert with its Directors and employees.”
