The Port of Montreal and its partners earn several awards

MONTREAL, Que.–The Port of Montreal announced it has won a Merit Award, Special Events, from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). This award recognizes the 175th Gold-Headed Cane Presentation Ceremony. The Gold Quill trophy was given to Ms. Sophie Roux, Director of Communications at the Port of Montreal, at the association’s world conference held in Toronto, June 8 to 11, said a port release.
In its evaluation, the jury of the awards program noted the style and verve brought by the Port of Montreal’s Communications team to a tradition that has been serving the Port’s corporate image for more than a century. The jury pointed out how well aligned the organization of the event was with the communications strategy. It also commented on how the Port of Montreal’s key messages were respected, on the depth of the approach and the attention to detail. Lastly, it applauded how smoothly the event went off and the rave reviews it inspired.
The 2014 edition of the IABC’s annual awards program received more than 800 entries, and 250 Gold Quills were awarded, said the port.
“Such recognition from this international organization for communicators highlights indubitably the quality of our work. I congratulate the entire communications team for this award. We will keep striving to always aim higher,” stated Sylvie Vachon, President and CEO of the Montreal Port Authority.
Founded in 1970, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is a professional network with 14,000 members in more than 70 countries. The organization brings together business communication professions in several areas: the media, public relations, public affairs, government relations, community relations, marketing, writing, editing, training and education, advertising, photography and video production, graphic design and human resources
IIn related news, on June 18 at the Grands prix d’excellence awards gala held by the Association québécoise du transport et des routes (AQTr), Cargo Montréal (CargoM) earned a pair of awards.
The 2014 Prix Transport de marchandises honours the project “Creation of the Logistic and Transportation Metropolitan Cluster of Montreal” for its coherence, its originality and its contribution to the fluidity of freight transport.
CargoM also earned the Prix Distinction, an honorary award in recognition of a major project that stands out strongly for its structuring contribution to transportation for the benefit Quebec society.
“We are beyond proud of the work performed by CargoM since its creation, and we applaud these awards that draw attention to the excellence of its results. This recognition reflects credit on all the players involved in CargoM and the transportation logistics chain in the metropolitan area,” stated Sylvie Vachon, President and CEO of the Montreal Port Authority and Chair of CargoM’s Board of Directors.
