Air Canada has announced that effective August 15 there will be an increase in the NavCan surcharge.
The carrier says the increase is a result of Navigation Canada having run into a considerable deficit which is now being unloaded onto the airlines.
The surcharge will be valid for both, loose and containerized cargo and will be as follows:
International (Import + Export): CAD 0.06/kg on chargeable weight – Minimum CAD 5.00 Domestic & Transborder: 5% (as is) on the weight charge, Minimum CAD 3.00
"The increase is modest in light of the additional financial burden passed on by NavCan. Undoubtedly, the other carriers will follow suite in due time," notes the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association.
