MONCTON, NB—Work crews have cleaned up a small oil spill that resulted when sixteen CN railcars jumped the tracks as they were entering the Moncton rail yard early Saturday.
A CN spokesman says the cars were moving at slow speed just after midnight Friday night when ten tankers carrying crude oil left the tracks, as did six empty automobile carriers.
Louis-Antoine Paquin issued a statement Sunday saying no one was hurt and all of the cars remained upright, but one of the tankers developed a minor leak.
He says about 150 litres of oil was vacuumed up Saturday morning and cleanup operations continued through the night and into Sunday.
The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
