EC won’t budge on aid limits to airlines

The EC stands firm on its decision to not allow uncontrolled cash injections into financially troubled EU airlines. EU countries will be allowed to compensate airlines only for losses incurred during the four days after Sept. 11 when US airspace was closed. European Commissioner, Loyola de Palacio, stressed it would be the Commission, not national governments, that would have the last word on state aid.
