Emirates uplifts record shipment
Emirates Airlines says it has recorded the largest single shipment ever to have been booked through SkyChain, the airline’s internet-based cargo management system.
The shipment, which comprised 816 pieces and weighed a total of 29.5 tons, was flown from Dubai to Islamabad at the beginning of October on a charter flight using the one of the airline’s Boeing 777-20 passenger aircraft on a cargo-only mission.
“This is the biggest shipment booked through Skychain so far and emphasizes the value of the system. The efficiency gains that SkyChain offers the customer mean that he gets both convenience and excellent value for money. This booking and the recent increase in the use of SkyChain prove that e-commerce is here to stay and is being increasingly embraced by the customer,” said Pradeep Kumar, Emirates’ General Manager Cargo Optimisation.
