Evergreen launches Ever Eagle
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has launched the Ever Eagle, the first in a series of five 6,332-TEU E-type container vessels it is building for Taiwan’s Evergreen Group at its Kobe shipyard, reports Schednet.com
The ship is due for delivery by the end of October.
The new E-type vessels have an overall length of 300 metres and a beam of 42.8 metres, and will be the largest ships in the Evergreen fleet. They will be able to carry containers 17-wide on deck and 15-wide below deck, and have a deadweight of 75,000 tonnes on a service draft of 13.5 metres. Each vessel will have a single 12-cylinder Mitsubishi Sulzer RTA84C main engine developing 66,120 bhp (48,600KW) to provide a service speed of 25 knots.
