Kent Line International Ltd of the Saint John, New Brunswick has opened a new office in Miami to develop its presence in the Florida market and build on its Florida Caribbean container link. The office has been established in co-operation with Kent Line’s Florida partners, International Port Services, Inc. (Interport).
Two Kent Line sales specialists Lance Gibbs and John Bjork will handle the needs of Florida and southeastern shippers on Kent Line’s independent weekly Caribbean container service. Gibbs will focus on the Leeward and Windward Islands, while Bjork handles the Dominican Republic and Venezuela trades.
Following its success in winning the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association’s (CIFFA) accolade of ‘Carrier of Choice to the Caribbean’ for the second year in succession, Kent Line launched its own independent service from Florida to the Caribbean in April 2001. The initiative added direct calls at the Florida ports of Jacksonville and Port Everglades to its Canada/US East Coast/Caribbean service. Three geared ships, each with a capacity of around 900 loaded TEU, provide a weekly, fixed-day link to the widest Caribbean port network in the trade.
The full service rotation is: Saint John (New Brunswick), New York, Jacksonville, Port Everglades, Kingston, Rio Haina, San Juan, La Guaira, Puerto Cabello, Point Lisas (Trinidad), Bridgetown, Saint Lucia, San Juan and return to Saint John.
