AP Moller Group company Maersk Logistics has acquired some of the activities and assets of Distribution Services Limited (DSL)’s transload and warehouse operations, ocean transport intermediary activities and consolidation business.

The acquisition is expected to increase the company’s cargo volumes from the Asia Pacific region to North America in the supply chain management segment, enlarge the company’s transload and warehouse operations in North America; and help Maersk Logistics establish a presence in the ocean transport intermediary activities segment.

“We remain entirely focussed on the demands of our clients and are speaking to each of them about our plans for successfully integrating the business, and the immediate benefits they can expect. The acquisition of these assets, along with the knowledge and professionalism of the DSL employees will allow us to deliver a higher level of expertise in integrated logistics management as well as a wider logistics service package,” said Soren Brandt, Maersk Logistics’ global managing director and chief executive officer.

Maersk Logistics has also acquired Finnish forwarder and customs broker Oy Arealog Ltd. The company, which was founded in 1994, has six offices and 24 staff in the southern part of Finland. The acquisition of Oy Arealog Ltd, which specialises in general forwarding, including sea, air, road, transit service and customs brokerage, will aid Maersk Logistics’ operations in Finland, says the company.
