Oracle announces free and continuous online conference

by Canadian Shipper

In an effort to educate its global applications user base, e-business software provider Oracle Corp. has announced Oracle AppsWorld Online, a free, continuous online conference accessible on Oracle AppsNet and open to all Oracle Applications users, customers, partners and implementers.

Oracle AppsWorld Online follows the launch of the live Oracle AppsWorld conferences held earlier this year in Paris and New Orleans, which attracted nearly 20,000 Oracle prospects, customers and partners.

The AppsWorld Online conference content, will in large part, be designed by users for the extended Oracle community. For example, the online conference will feature a continuous call for papers. Any Oracle user, implementer or developer will be able to submit a paper proposal at any time via a self-service form. The participant will be able to select whether the presentation should be a chat (interactive typing), a presentation (slides pushed by browser, with voice over), a Q&A (radio-style chat over phones), or a combination of the above. In most cases, submissions will be slotted on to the session agenda within 30 days.

AppsWorld Online will launch in early September 2001 and run continuously on AppsNet, the online applications community for Oracle customers and partners, which currently serves over 90,000 members. The AppsWorld Online conference will feature chat sessions with key Oracle applications development executives and product managers; discussion forums for Oracle E-Business Suite customers and several educational tracks. Highlighted tracks will include:

Customer Track: User discussions on their experiences with the Oracle E-Business Suite in interactive format.

Ask Oracle: Continuos series of chats where users can post their applications questions directly to Oracle development executives.

User Track: Online education for users on how to best leverage new features in the Oracle E-Business Suite and leverage existing features to reinvent their e-businesses.

Technology Track: Content focused on the underpinning technology of the E-Business Suite.

Partner Track: Oracle’s key partners explain their complementary products for the Oracle E-Business Suite.

Meet the Consultants: Special sessions where consultants exchange their experiences with E-Business Suite implementations, including tips and tricks.

Additionally, AppsWorld Online will highlight content for line of business managers including specific seminars for finance, human resources, sales, marketing, service, procurement, purchasing, operations/manufacturing, project management, contract management and technology.

The next live Oracle AppsWorld conference is scheduled for January 13-16, 2002 in Amsterdam. Additional conferences are scheduled for February 4-7, 2002 in Singapore and April 7-10, 2002 in San Diego.
