Schneider joins QUALCOMM to further trailer tracking technology
QUALCOMM has teamed up with Schneider National to develop trailer tracking technology.
The mobile communications company today announced its has created a consortium to further the development of its untethered trailer asset management system for the transportation and logistics industry.
Schneider National , a provider of truckload and intermodal transportation and logistics solutions, signed on as a founding member.
“The consortium will allow leading carriers committed to QUALCOMM’s trailer tracking technology to provide insight and guidance to help lead our product direction, ensuring that current and future development phases meet the needs of the industry,” said Chris Wolfe, president, QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions. “We’re thrilled to have Schneider National as a founding member. Their industry leadership and knowledge will provide invaluable insight into the needs of the market.”
The consortium will consist of executives from the transportation and related industries. The group will provide direction on how the untethered trailer tracking product will be implemented into the market.
A product direction group has also been created to help provide feedback to QUALCOMM about features for the untethered trailer tracking product. The council will consist of consortium members, who will be permanent members, and non-consortium members whose membership will rotate periodically. Product Direction Council members will be able to participate in alpha and beta product testing.
