CN and Iowa Northern Railway Company have officially joined operations as of March 1, following approval from the U.S. Surface Transportation Board.
The merger integrates Iowa Northern’s 175-mile network with CN’s nearly 20,000-mile system, offering single-line service for grain, fertilizer, renewable fuels and industrial markets.
“This additional investment in the United States underscores our dedication to delivering outstanding rail service while driving economic growth,” CN president and CEO Tracy Robinson said in a statement.
Derek Taylor, CN’s executive vice-president and chief field operating officer, said the milestone brings Iowa Northern’s employees into CN’s workforce, emphasizing safety and reliable transportation.
