Seaport Group acquires Nova Scotia-based Classic Freight Systems

Seaport Group has acquired Dartmouth, N.S.-based Classic Freight Systems, expanding its freight and logistics network in Atlantic Canada.

Classic Freight Systems will continue operating under its existing name and brand, with its current management team remaining in place. Seaport said the acquisition adds capacity and extends its network, while there will be no immediate changes to Classic’s operations, employees or customer and vendor relationships.

Mississauga, Ont.-based Seaport Group operates through Seaport Intermodal, Harlyn Transport and Seaport Logistics, providing container drayage, storage and over-the-road transportation services across Eastern Canada and the United States. Classic Freight Systems, founded in Dartmouth nearly 30 years ago, serves more than 360 customers across Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario and the continental United States through trucking, drayage, freight brokerage, warehousing and rail logistics services.
