Port Innovators Network expands with new members from Austria and Denmark

The Port Innovators Network (PIN) is expanding its global reach by welcoming two new members — thinkport VIENNA and Port Esbjerg — both recognized leaders in sustainable logistics and maritime innovation.

thinkport VIENNA is an open innovation hub focused on developing sustainable freight and urban logistics solutions for livable cities, while Port Esbjerg is a European offshore wind base port and a key player in advancing hydrogen production, carbon storage and maritime decarbonization.

“With this strategic expansion to include leading innovators from Austria and Denmark, PIN is accelerating the network’s collaboration in Central and Northern Europe,” the organization said in a release.

Joining PIN will allow both organizations to collaborate on global knowledge exchange and access new technologies for advancing urban mobility, offshore wind operations and sustainable port management.

“As the first inland port member of the Port Innovators Network, thinkport VIENNA drives forward-thinking innovation projects that redefine logistics and mobility, showcasing the vital role of inland ports as testbeds for the future of sustainable and smart port ecosystems,” said Mag. Martin Posset, CEO of thinkport VIENNA.

Dennis Jul Pedersen, CEO of Port Esbjerg, said, “It is absolutely crucial for the development of the Port of Esbjerg that we foster a strong and active culture of innovation. A culture with international reach, contributing new knowledge and inspiration. This is exactly what we gain through our collaboration in the Port Innovators Network.”

PIN, founded by homePORT (Port of Hamburg), Opentop (Valenciaport) and The PIER (Port of Halifax), connects startups, researchers, universities and investors to share innovation and best practices across the global port system.
