Wiliot introduces Gen3 battery-free IoT Pixel for supply chain visibility

Wiliot has introduced the Gen3 IoT Pixel, the latest version of its battery-free ambient IoT sensing technology, aimed at expanding real-time visibility across global supply chains.

The company said the new generation strengthens its ambient IoT architecture and enhances the Wiliot Intelligence Platform, which converts sensor data into continuous operational intelligence for retailers, logistics providers and supply chain companies.

Building on the Gen2 design, the Gen3 IoT Pixel offers expanded read ranges, improved energy harvesting efficiency and lower unit costs. The dual-band device operates across 2.4 GHz and sub-1 GHz frequencies, enabling longer-range energizing and more reliable data broadcasts across environments such as distribution centres, trailers and retail locations.

Roughly the size of a postage stamp, the battery-free device broadcasts encrypted Bluetooth Low Energy signals that can be read by certified access points, creating an always-on sensing layer for tracking location, temperature, humidity and movement.

“The Gen3 IoT Pixel represents the next leap forward in how real-time data can be captured across supply chains,” said Julien Bellanger, president of Wiliot. “Its enhanced performance and cost profile allow companies to deploy ambient IoT at new levels of performance and scale – fueling our AI platform with the continuous, high-fidelity data required for more efficient operations, lower waste and smarter execution.”

The Gen3 IoT Pixel serves as the primary data source for the Wiliot Intelligence Platform, which analyzes continuous sensor data to enable applications such as automated cycle counting, automated receiving, shipment verification, reusable asset tracking, and temperature and condition monitoring.

Wiliot said adoption of its technology has accelerated following major commercial deployments and growing interest in what it describes as “Physical AI,” where real-world data feeds AI systems that guide automated decision-making.

“Physical AI is becoming a defining capability for modern supply chains,” said Bellanger. “The combination of our Gen3 IoT Pixels and Intelligence Platform equips enterprises with continuous, ground-truth data at scale – transforming how they manage freshness, availability, logistics and asset flows across their networks.”
