Rockwell Automation, Inc. showcased its production logistics solution at MODEX 2026, marking the first time the company has presented a connected approach to material flow and production operations at the Material Handling Industry stage.
The company says the demonstration highlighted how production logistics can connect machines, material movement and systems across a facility to enable end-to-end autonomous operations. It says the approach allows manufacturers to design, orchestrate and automate material flow from simulation through execution, improving throughput, reducing bottlenecks and enhancing operational resilience.
Rockwell cites the MHI 12th Annual Industry Report, which projects adoption of robotics and automation technologies will grow from 41 per cent today to 83 per cent within five years. The report also ranks these technologies as having the highest potential to create a competitive advantage at 63 per cent.
“Rather than showcasing individual automation technologies, Rockwell is presenting a plant-wide approach that connects material movement with production operations,” said Greg Gernert Jr., vice-president of production logistics and technology integration at Rockwell Automation. “This reflects a broader shift across the industry, where material movement is no longer a standalone automation project; it’s a coordinated system that directly drives operational outcomes across the factory floor.”
The solution includes digital twin simulation using Emulate3D, orchestration software to connect machines and processes, autonomous material movement using OTTO AMRs and consulting services from Kalypso.
Rockwell says a recent deployment at a global automotive manufacturer resulted in a 20 per cent increase in production rate, demonstrating the potential of its autonomous operations approach.
