Saskatchewan trucking group launches anti-trafficking awareness campaign

The Saskatchewan Trucking Association and Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers have launched a provincewide campaign aimed at combating human trafficking, exploitation and fraud in the trucking industry.

The initiative, sponsored by Aero Delivery, features four “See Something, Say Something” decal designs placed on the rear of commercial truck trailers operating across Saskatchewan. The campaign encourages both drivers and the public to report suspicious activity anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

“The trucking industry travels every highway and into every community in this province,” said Susan Ewart, executive director of the Saskatchewan Trucking Association. “Our members are in a unique position to help raise awareness and be part of the solution. This campaign reinforces our commitment to safety, professionalism and accountability.”

The organizations say human trafficking and document fraud are often difficult to detect, and the campaign is designed to increase reporting by turning trailers into mobile awareness messages.

“Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers is proud to partner with the Saskatchewan Trucking Association to combat Human Trafficking through increased awareness and reporting. This initiative is not only directed at the transportation sector, but also towards the general public to recognize the indicators of Human Trafficking and take appropriate action by reporting suspicious activity,” said James Flynn, police coordinator, Crime Stoppers Saskatchewan.

“Human trafficking is often hidden in plain sight. We urge anyone with information, no matter how minor it may seem, to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously. Timely information can assist law enforcement in identifying offenders and safeguarding victims.”

Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
