Police release video of Toronto-area warehouse break and enter

Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have arrested three men and are seeking additional suspects following a commercial break and enter in the City of Richmond Hill, a suburb of Toronto.

On Monday, April 1, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., police responded to a commercial warehouse in the area of Leslie Street and Major Mackenzie Drive East, where as many as 10 suspects were breaking in with hammers and electric saws.

When officers arrived, two suspects were immediately arrested, while a number of other suspects fled. The Canine Unit was engaged and a third suspect was quickly taken into custody a short time later.

The video shows a group of people wearing masks and dark clothing pry open a person door to the warehouse using crowbars. Interior surveillance video shows the group breaking an entry cage door and making their way into the main storage area.

Meanwhile a single police cruiser shows up the parking lot, as one person flees the scene on foot. An officer approaches the building, gun drawn and enters, where they apprehend a single person near the door.

Although there is no audio on the police-provided footage, the office an be seen yelling, and the video cuts to a different camera angle, showing the group of people shoving their way to another exit.

Investigators are now looking for as many as 11 additional suspects, aged 20 to 50 years old. The suspects are known to travel in groups and are believed to be Eastern European.

The charged individuals are: Sandu-Daniel Nae, 48, of Markham; Razvan-Nicolae Gheorghe 35, of Markham; and, Romeo Lache, 35, of Toronto.

  • Participation in Criminal Organization
  • Commission of Offence for Criminal Organization
  • Break and Enter with Intent
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 x2
  • Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence.
