DelGate has released a new guide outlining common container destuffing issues that can affect warehouse efficiency, inventory accuracy and receiving operations.
“Receiving operations are often the first opportunity for businesses to verify inventory accuracy before products enter storage or fulfillment,” said a DelGate spokesperson. “Our objective with this guide is to provide practical recommendations that warehouse teams can incorporate into their existing standard operating procedures to improve consistency and operational visibility.”
According to the report, 7 Container Destuffing Mistakes Canadian Importers Should Avoid, errors during container unloading can lead to inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, delayed fulfillment and higher operating costs. The report identifies issues such as inadequate pre-arrival planning, insufficient cargo inspections, improper equipment selection, inventory verification challenges, inconsistent palletization practices and incomplete freight-claims documentation.
According to the report, recommended practices include establishing standardized documentation before container arrival, inspecting cargo before unloading begins, matching unloading equipment to cargo type, verifying inventory against purchase orders and warehouse management systems, rebuilding stable pallets for distribution and documenting receiving exceptions to support operational improvements.
