Air Canada & Carbon Engineering Ltd. (CE)
Air Canada and Carbon Engineering Ltd. (CE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to identify potential opportunities for how CE’s proprietary Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology, which captures carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, can advance aviation decarbonization. The two Canadian companies plan to explore potential cooperation activities in sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), permanent carbon dioxide removal and innovation, including opportunities for Air Canada to purchase SAF utilizing CE’s technologies.
Descartes & Pioneer Landscape Centers
Denver-based Pioneer Landscape Centers, a distributor of landscape and hardscape materials in Colorado and Arizona, is using Descartes’s route planning solution. “By integrating the Descartes solution with our new, homegrown point-of-sales system and dispatch system, known as Pioneer OS, we’re able to provide dispatchers a unified view of all restock and customer delivery requests, dramatically reduce dispatching time, and efficiently route our fleet using Descartes’s route planning solution,” said Paul Tudor, president of Pioneer. Descartes’ routing solution supports dynamic delivery requirements, including same-day delivery, by using continuous optimization technology.
XTL Group & CBT Inc
XTL Group has bought CBT Inc., a logistics company based in Oakwood, Georgia. CBT was founded in 1989 by Connie Banks and is located in the Gainesville/Hall Country area of Georgia. Refrigerated and frozen transportation service is a key part of their customer network. CBT is a certified woman-owned, family business, and Banks will continue to be part of the business. CBT also offers US domestic dry van, flat bed, heavy haul, over-sized, specialized, and hazmat services.
Vertical Cold Storage & Liberty Cold Storage
Vertical Cold Storage, a developer and operator of temperature controlled distribution centres sponsored by real estate asset manager Platform Ventures, is acquiring Liberty Cold Storage from West Liberty Foods. Liberty Cold Storage opened its nearly 300,000 sq. ft. warehouse near Chicago in Bolingbrook, Illinois, in 2016. The building has 36,000 pallet positions and 265 blast freezer positions, LED motion lighting, a 63-foot refrigerated dock and drop trailer flexibility. The operation houses a high-pressure pasteurization machine, with plans to double capacity, for food quality/safety and shelf life extension. There are also large rooms for USDA inspected market preparation, code dating and labeling, as well as other processing activities.
