Contracts, mergers, acquisitions and big deals in the supply chain sector this week

Global aerospace and defense technology supplier L3Harris Technologies has selected Kinaxis RapidResponse to support decision-making across its supply chains. Kinaxis will help L3Harris enable collaboration with internal stakeholders as well as customers and suppliers on sales and operational trade-offs, engineering changes and supply chain disruptions – all critical to meeting targets.

Sealy & Company acquired eight fully leased industrial warehouse and distribution buildings totaling 1,207,376 square feet in Greenville, South Carolina. All of the eight properties are located within the Greenville-Spartanburg Industrial market along the I-85 corridor. Sealy purchased the portfolio from Blackstone for an undisclosed amount. The properties offer excellent accessibility to the nearby BMW Manufacturing Plant, the Greenville International Airport, and the Inland Port, which offers overnight freight shipping from the Port of Charleston.

AeroSafe Global closed a US $47.5 million round of growth financing. AeroSafe will use the funding to support new value-added services and technologies, and further expand into new geographies.

Kӧrber will implement a fully automated system for Scandinavian home furnishings retailer JYSK‘s new, 200€ million, 143,000 sqm distribution centre in Ecser, Hungary. Two twelve-aisle high-bay warehouses will utilize a two-kilometre electric floor conveyor with 36 rail guided vehicles (RGVs) and 1.8 km of pallet conveyors. This is in addition to stretchers, lifters, stacker cranes and a pallet inspection station. Planning and management of goods will be centrally managed by the SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and Material Flow Systems (MFS). The DC will perform omnichannel distribution from strategic storage (200,000 pallets), higher efficiency and speed (400 Euro pallets per hour) and reduced transport to the yard by approximately 4.5 million km per year. Goods will be supplied to stores and customers in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia.

Envirotainer has addded Beijing (PEK), China, to its growing list of e-technology network stations. The Beijing station will carry the company’s RKN e1 and RAP e2 containers and provide a capacity increase to support the rapidly growing Chinese pharmaceutical export market. The new station began operations on September 1, 2020.

Nippon Express USA, Inc. recently set up NEX Pharma Solutions-Chicago, a temperature-controlled facility specializing in medical and pharmaceutical products, within its warehouse located near Chicago O’Hare Airport and obtained GDP certification for the facility, which began operations on September 1, 2020..
