Courchesne Larose, Star Group announce strategic partnership to expand national produce network

Courchesne Larose Group says it has entered a strategic partnership with The Star Group, bringing together two major players in Canada’s fresh fruit and vegetable sector.

The companies say the deal will strengthen their national reach and operational capabilities while maintaining their respective identities and day-to-day operations.

Montreal-based Courchesne Larose is a distributor of fresh produce with integrated importing, distribution, processing and transportation operations serving customers across Canada.

Star Group, founded in Saskatoon, operates facilities across Canada and the United States. The partnership adds more than 850 employees and 13 facilities to Courchesne Larose’s network.

“Partnering with Star Group supports our long-term growth ambitions in Canada and the United States,” said Michael Aucoin, chief executive officer of Courchesne Larose. “Star Group is a highly respected organization with shared values and deep industry expertise. By working together, we are strengthening our capabilities while continuing to invest in quality, efficiency and reliability across the supply chain.”

“For generations, our growth has been built on enduring relationships of trust with our customers. This new milestone will allow us to further strengthen that commitment,” added Alain Routhier, president of Courchesne Larose.

The companies say the partnership will provide coast-to-coast service and expand product offerings through a mix of global and domestic sourcing, including value-added produce. Integration will be carried out gradually to ensure continuity of operations.
