Air Canada picks pallet management partner

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario—Air Canada has decided to outsource the management of its unit load devices (ULDs).

The airline will sell its existing stock of 8,000 pallets and airline containers to Mississauga, Ontario-based CHEP Aerospace Solutions, which in turn will manage the positioning and maintenance of the containers. Air Canada’s ULDs will be added to CHEP’s existing pool, bringing the company’s total inventory up to over 53,000 units.

“Our decision to partner with CHEP Aerospace Solutions came following a lengthy and detailed analysis conducted by the Air Canada team. The result of our analysis revealed that CHEP was the best provider to deliver cost-savings and efficiencies, while removing hassle and administration, allowing us to focus on our core business of flying passengers and cargo. We look forward to our future cooperation,” said Air Canada vice-president of cargo Lise-Marie Turpin.
