Fire at Vancouver port terminal quickly contained

A fire broke out at the Port of Vancouver’s Roberts Bank 1 Westshore Terminal Dec. 28, with Delta Fire and Emergency Services saying crews were able to extinguish flames and prevent any spread to further equipment.
The fire was limited to a conveyor belt and no injuries were reported.
Tsawwassen First Nation said it was actively working to gather more information and was in contact with Global Container Terminals (GCT), the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA), the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO), Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), as well as provincial and regional authorities.
At the time of the fire, Delta Fire and Emergency Services said the incident was not considered suspicious.
