Kuehne and Nagel buys Canadian company

Schindellegi , Switzerland: Kuehne and Nagle has taken another step to expand its perishable logistics business.

It has agreed to purchase Perishables International Transportation (PIT) Inc. Based at Vancouver Airport’s cargo area, PIT is a freight forwarder specializing in the handling and transportation of fresh and frozen perishable goods.

“Following the general expansion of our perishables logistics business in Australia, Europe and South America, the acquisition of Perishables International Transportation allows us to grow these activities in North America,” said Tim Scharwath, executive vice-president of air logistics at Kuehne and Nagel International AG. “The timing of this transaction ahead of the peak season is ideal and will also strengthen our position in the Canadian airfreight market.”
