Pandas land in France

ROISSY, FRANCE: When the VIP — Very Important Panda — Charter touched down safely at Paris Charles de Gaulle Interational Airport, it marked the first time in ten years that France will be home to giant pandas.

The pair of three-year-old pandas originated from the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China. Their new home is in a specially-built enclosure in the ZooParc de Beauval. ZooParc intends to work on research and conservation programs with the Chinese breeding facility with the goal of preserving the endangered species.

FedEx Express was responsible for flying pandas from China to France. Huan Huan and Yuan Zi made the journey in custom-built enclosures. They were accompanied on the charter flight, the “FedEx Panda Express”, by a Chinese veterinarian and animal handler, and the ZooParc de Beauval managing director. FedEx Express was also responsible for the panda’s ground transport.
