by MM&D staff

HAMILTON, Ontario—Lisa Raitt had a lot to talk about when she spoke at the Association of Canadian Port Authorities 54th Annual Conference and General Meeting.

The federal labour minister played a pivotal role in creating the legislation that sent Air Canada and CP employees back to work after failed labour negotiations earlier this year. Although those actions weren’t taken at ports, they are a topic of interest to everybody involved in the Canadian logistics sector.

In part one of interview with MM&D Raitt addressed the government’s role in those disputes, and spoke about ongoing labour negotiations at CN, the Port of Montreal and Chorus Aviation/Air Canada Jazz.

In the second part of the interview, Raitt shares her thoughts on the ongoing US Harbour Maintenance Tax issue.
