Who’s on the move this week [December 3, 2013]

Waterloo, Ontario-based Descartes Systems Group, has appointed Edward Ryan as CEO. Ryan previously held the position of chief commercial officer with the company. He succeeds Arthur Mesher, who has retired. Descartes also named Scott Pagan as president and chief operating officer. Pagan was also promoted from within the company, having been chief corporate officer and corporate secretary.

CP has appointed Bart Demosky as executive vice-president and chief financial officer for the Calgary, Alberta-based railway. Brian Grassby, who held the titles of senior-vice-president and chief financial officer, is retiring.

Gary Ensey has been hired as regional sales manager, US Western region, by Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based Seegrid. He will report to Derek Roberts, director of sales.

Dependable Global Express Inc, a global ocean freight forwarder based in Rancho Dominguez, California, has made two new management appointments. Raj Dias is the new vice-president of global business development. He will primarily focus on South Asia including India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, as well as intra-Asia Trade between South Asia and the rest of Asia. As well, the company hired Jean Paul Goedhart as New Zealand country manager. He replaces Mikaela Williams who is taking another position in the company.

David Erickson, Knighted

David Erickson has been named vice-president of software development for Knighted, the New York, New York-based software subsidiary of Cincinnati, Ohio-based Intelligrated. He will manage Knighted’s application development teams to produce supply chain software solutions and will report directly to Dan Napoli, senior vice president, research and development.

Berwyn, Pennsylvania-based 4R Systems Inc, a provider of inventory and supply chain optimization services, has regained the services of Kevin Stadler, who is rejoined the company as president and CEO. He succeeds Jiri Nechleba has been appointed vice-chair of the board.

Dick Metzler, uShip

Jeff Metersky has joined Llamasoft Inc, the Ann Arbor, Michigan-based provider of supply chain design software, as vice-president of solution strategy. He will have global responsibility for designing comprehensive supply chain design solutions composed of technology, services, support, education and training for future and existing LLamasoft customers.

Online freight marketplace uShip has hired Dick Metzler as chief marketing officer. In the newly created position, Metzler will oversee the Austin, Texas-based company’s brand and marketing strategy, as well as online search, inbound/outbound marketing, business development and corporate communications.
