Who’s on the move this week [January 8, 2013]

Larry Rodo has joined Day & Ross Freight as the company’s new president. He will have total responsibility for the Hartland, New Brunswick-based company’s LTL and TL divisions. In addition to serving as president of both Brinks USA and Brinks Canada, he has held executive positions at Nadiscorp, Schenker and Reimer Express Lines. Day & Ross also appointed Doug Harrison to the role of chief operating officer. He will be responsible for the company’s overall strategy, its four operating companies, and a number of its support groups.

Randy Spahr is the new director of business development at Schiller Park Illinois-based packaging equipment manufacturer Arpac Group.

C H Robinson Worldwide Inc has a new vice-president of human resources. Angie Freeman, formerly vice-president of investor relations and public affairs at the Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based logistics company, will oversee the global human resources operations. She will be responsible for the company’s talent strategies, and for managing C H Robinson’s global HR functions, including employee relations, benefits, recruiting and development. Tim Gagnon, who held the title of director of enterprise business analytics, will become director of investor relations and analytics.

TSD Logistics has promoted Ryan Berry to the role of vice-president of business development. He will be responsible for the company’s sales efforts, partnerships and relationships with new and existing customers. He formerly held the title of director of logistics at the Texarkana, Texas-based company.

Retired commercial pilot Ed Macdonald has been appointed to the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada (TATC). His term will be for four years.

The Halifax Port Authority’s board of director has rewed the contract of current president and CEO Karen Oldfield. Her term has been extended for an additional five years.

Jacksonville, Florida-based rail company CSX has made a number of appointments. Craig King, vice-president of the northern region, has retired. Gary Bethel, formerly vice-president, mechanical, succeeded King. He will report to Cindy Sanborn, vice-president and chief transportation officer. Frank Lonegro, who held the position of  CSX technology, is the new vice-president mechanical. Kathleen Brandt has taken on the title of CSX technology. Both Brandt and Lonegro will report to executive vice-president and COO Oscar Munoz.

Trailer Wizards Ltd has hired a number of Saskatchewan-based employees. Dean Rhinas is the new branch manager of the Saskatoon office. He will be responsible for planning and controlling daily operations; hiring, managing and training employees, and growing business in the region. The Mississauga, Ontario-based company also added staff to its Regina office. Natasha Terry is the administrative clerk, Walker Frohlich joined as a mechanic, and John Langford is operations co-ordinator.

Polar Tank Trailer has hired Jim Bach to be director of materials. He will be responsible for planning, master scheduling and inventory optimization for the dry and liquid bulk trailer manufacturer’s operations, which are located in Opole and Holdingford, Minnesota. Polar Tank is based in St. Cloud, Minnesota and is a division of Polar Corp.

Glasgow, Kentucky-based SpanTech LLC has made a number of senior appointments. Dan Nasato has been promoted from executive vice-president to president and COO. He will be responsible for the operational management and business conduct of the company’s global networks, SpanTech LLC and SpanTech Sortation Technologies Inc. Chris Blackford is now vice-president of North American sales for the materials handling and sorting solutions company. Bob Potocki has been named as division president of SpanTech Sortation Technologies.

Echo Global Logistics Inc, a Chicago, Illinois-based transportation and supply chain management services company, added David Habiger to its board of directors. Echo co-founder, Eric Lefkofsky has stepped down from the board.
