Who’s on the move this week [March 22, 2012]

Fresh produce transportation and supply chain technology company Purfresh Inc of Fremont, California has made two appointments to its Latin America division. Armando Galue has been named as manager, South America, and Miguel Gomez is the new manager, Central America. Before joining Purfresh, Gomez was director of sales and customer service for Hapag-Lloyd where he was responsible for logistics, operations, and commercial management of owned offices and third-party agencies in Central America. Galue was sales manager for Hamburg Sud North America, where he managed accounts including Chiquita, Del Monte Fresh Produce, and JF Hillebrand.

Union Pacific has a new executive vice-president of marketing and sales. Eric Butler succeeds Jack Koraleski, who recently was appointed acting president and CEO while chairman Jim Young is on medical leave. Butler has been with the company for 26 years, most recently serving as vice-president and general manager—industrial products. Taking over from him in that role is Bradley Thrasher. His previous position was assistant vice-president and general manager—Union Pacific Distribution Services. Kate Betsworth has been promoted to replace Thrasher. Her previous title was assistant vice-president—industrial products.
