Who’s on the move this week: November 17, 2014

Duane Chiasson, CCLP, has joined Effective Logistics Solutions (ELS) an independent contractor of Yusen Logistics, which in turn are a member of the NYK Group. He will take on a lead sales role. Chiasson comes from Maisliner Transport, General Manager of the Ontario Division. Before Maisliner, Chiasson held many successively senior roles for 22 years on the buying side of logistics, with companies such as LG Electronics, Innovage Group of companies and Interwood Marketing group. Duane has been chair of the CITT’s Toronto Area Council  for four years and has also held roles on the national council of the CITT.

Craig Rix has been appointed to the board of directors of the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) for a term of three years. As well, Eddie Francis is appointed to the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority‘s International Authority that will oversee the construction of the new publicly-owned bridge between Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan. Rix is a partner with the law firm Hicks Morley Hamilton Stewart Storie LLP and, through his legal practice, has significant experience in human resources law and advocacy, strategic planning, governance and public policy. He has been active in the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers. Francis has been mayor of the City of Windsor since November 2003. His appointment will take effect December 1, 2014.

Eric Meek has been appointed executive vice-president and COO at Celadon Group, Inc. Meek previously served as executive vice-president, CFO and treasurer. Bobby Peavler has been appointed vice-president and principal accounting officer. He previously served as vice-president of accounting. Before joining Celadon in 2004, Peavler worked as a tax accountant for DeWitt & Shrader. Leslie Tarble has been appointed vice-president, treasurer and principal financial officer. She previously held the position of vice-president of finance. Tarble graduated from Butler University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in finance. Prior to joining Celadon in 2008, she worked as a financial analyst for Triton Value Partners.

Steve Sanchez will join the LaserShip team as director of supply chain. Sanchez comes to LaserShip with over 25 years of logistics experience. For the past two years, Sanchez was director of logistics operations for DHL/Exel Supply Chain Logistics where he designed and implemented time-critical transportation networks for large multi-national corporations within the Tech, Pharmaceutical, Consumer and Retail sectors. Before transferring to DHL/Exel, Sanchez acted as senior director of process engineering for DHL Express, Asia Pacific based in Singapore. Sanchez also spent 14 years working for UPS in various positions.
