Port Saint John
Port Saint John announced the appointment of Brent McGovern as its new chief operating officer (COO). McGovern joins the organization following a 20-year career at the City of Saint John, where he most recently held the role of chief administrative officer (CAO).
During his tenure with the City of Saint John, McGovern provided leadership to a team of over 600 employees, managed a $225 million annual operating budget and oversaw more than $50 million in annual capital investments. He successfully delivered the Safe, Clean Drinking Water Project, recognized as the largest municipal infrastructure initiative in New Brunswick’s history, which was completed on time and under budget. In addition to his public sector experience, McGovern has held senior positions in the private sector, including his role at Suez Environment in Los Angeles, where he was responsible for managing all operational aspects including the operation of the world’s most advanced water recycling facility.
A.P. Moller – Maersk
Global integrated logistics company, A.P. Moller – Maersk (Maersk), has appointed Charles van der Steene as the regional managing director for the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East and Africa (IMEA).
An accomplished professional with extensive industry expertise, van der Steene has been with Maersk since 2011, bringing comprehensive global experience in commercial strategy, operational excellence and leadership. He previously worked in the IMEA region from 2016 to 2019, as regional CEO for this territory for DAMCO (Maersk’s Supply Chain and Logistics arm which was integrated into Maersk in 2020). His subsequent roles have included heading sales and marketing in North America and, most recently, leading the North America Region.
