Appointments, promotions, moves and changes in the supply chain sector

The Association of Canadian Port Authorities is turning to Mario Girard to lead the way. Girard, president and CEO of the Port of Quebec, was selected as incoming chair of the ACPA Board of Directors for the next year. The ACPA Board also welcomes Donna Taylor, president and CEO of the Port of Oshawa, as incoming vice-chair and Sean Hanrahan, president and CEO of the Port of St John’s, as corporate secretary/treasurer. Rounding out the complement of eight ACPA Board members are: Bernie Dumas (Nanaimo); Don Krusel (Prince Rupert); Carl Laberge (Saguenay); Robin Silvester (Vancouver); Sylvie Vachon (Montreal).

Vincent Canonico, and Peter Reed are new senior partners at KOM International Inc. Canonico has more than 20 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, warehousing and distribution and has worked on logistics mandates in fifteen countries. Canonico developed a network modeling solution geared specifically for the high-assortment nature of retail and wholesale distribution. For the last eight years, this solution, AGILE, has been successfully applied in the analysis and design of logistics networks. Reed’s corporate career in logistics, warehousing and distribution spans 38 years of hands-on experience in various roles with the leading Canadian grocery retailer, Sobeys; including over 20 years as vice-president of logistics engineering with responsibility for the development of the company’s logistics network of over 20 distribution centres.

Ariaen Zimmerman has been appointed executive director of Cargo 2000 (C2K), an IATA Interest Group established to lead the drive towards enhanced quality throughout the air cargo industry. Zimmerman is leading the group’s change program, which will see C2K adopt a new auditing system, neutral benchmarks, and embrace a smarter, wider approach to data analysis using Smart Data. Zimmerman has over a decade of experience in the air cargo industry in senior management roles, including at Polar Air Cargo and, most recently, Saudi Airlines Cargo. The C2K team includes Laura Rodriguez, assistant manager, who has been working with IATA’s cargo division for two years, Sebastian Schirmers, who joined C2K as operations manager in August from DB Schenker, and Phil Sims, secretary to the Board.
