Bobcat to launch lithium-ion forklift batteries in North America in 2026

Bobcat Company says it will introduce a new line of lithium-ion battery packs for Class I forklifts in North America in the first quarter of 2026.

The company says the high-performance batteries are designed to provide consistent power for material-handling operations such as warehouses, manufacturing facilities and distribution centres. The batteries will also be available earlier in select global markets.

“With this new lithium-ion battery line, Bobcat is expanding its electric power portfolio to support forklift businesses and their growing shift toward advanced power solutions,” said Jaesung Choi, product manager, Bobcat Company. “These batteries are purpose built for rigorous, day to day use, offering durability, efficiency and productivity for the most demanding material-handling applications.”

Bobcat says the batteries are designed for cushion tire, pneumatic tire and three-wheel forklifts and are intended as an alternative to lead-acid battery systems. The lineup includes 48-volt and 80-volt models offered in 400Ah and 600Ah capacities.

The company says the batteries can charge up to 50 per cent faster than many comparable systems and eliminate the need for watering, daily maintenance or battery swaps. Bobcat says the batteries meet UL 2580 safety certification standards and update UL 583 vehicle certification when installed in forklifts.

Bobcat says the batteries feature reinforced construction designed to withstand vibrations up to 5G, along with thermal management systems and laser-welded connections to support performance during heavy-duty use.

The company says the batteries include an automatic cold-weather heating pad designed to maintain output in freezer environments and winter conditions, along with an IP65-rated dust- and water-resistant design for indoor and outdoor use.

Bobcat says the batteries also feature user-focused elements such as simplified charging interfaces, automatic sleep mode and quick activation functions. The company says a modular battery and weight system is intended to reduce maintenance requirements and lower total operating costs.

Bobcat says the new battery lineup is part of its effort to support the growing adoption of lithium-ion technology in the material-handling sector.
