SOREL, Quebec—A bulker has run aground in the St Lawrence River.
The Tundra, a 185m vessel that flies under the flag of Cyprus is stuck in the mud.
It is located in the area of the river just west of L’Ile-du-Moine and the Chenal du Moine. Because the bulk carrier is outside of the main shipping corridor, on the south part of the seaway, it is not presenting a hazard to navigation.
According to the Canadian Coast Guard, the Tundra left Montreal, Quebec yesterday and was en route to Halifax, Nova Scotia with a load of soya. No spillage occurred.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has sent a team to Sorel to investigate the incident.
