Lufthansa pilots set to strike

FRANKFURT, Germany — Lufthansa pilots are set for a four-day strike following the collapse of talks over pay and job security.

The stoppage, due to start Feb. 22 at midnight, was approved by 94% of pilots, according to the union.

On its Web site, Lufthansa officials said the airline “expects heavy influences to its flight operations” during the strike period.

Lufthansa officials say the strike will affect both its passenger airline and Lufthansa Cargo. The airline is instigating emergency measures to mitigate the impact.
