DP World reports surge in intra-Americas ocean freight volumes

DP World said its ocean freight forwarding volumes in the Americas have increased 12-fold over the past two years as regional trade activity grows and demand for integrated logistics services expands.

According to the company, ocean freight volumes in the Americas have doubled since the beginning of 2026. Trade between North, Central and South America has become DP World’s second-largest ocean freight lane in the region.

The company also reported growth on major trade corridors linking the Americas with Asia, Africa and Europe.

“The growth of our ocean freight business reflects what customers are increasingly looking for: greater choice, flexibility, and reliable access to markets,” said Joseph Fordney, senior vice-president of freight forwarding, Americas, at DP World.

DP World attributed the increase to growth in regional trade and expanded demand for integrated supply chain services that combine freight forwarding with port operations, warehousing and inland transportation.

The company said it continues to integrate its freight forwarding network with its ports, terminals, warehouses and transportation operations across the Americas to support end-to-end cargo movements.
