Swisslog launches next-generation pallet shuttle system

Swisslog has introduced a new automated storage and retrieval solution aimed at improving warehouse efficiency and flexibility.

The company said its AgileStore system, a next-generation four-way roaming pallet shuttle, expands its pallet automation portfolio by enabling multidirectional movement across aisles and levels. The system is designed to increase storage density, optimize space and support fully automated material flows.

AgileStore complements Swisslog’s existing pallet automation offerings, including its PowerStore shuttle system and Vectura pallet stacker crane.

The system allows individual shuttles to travel forward, backward, across aisles and vertically, improving how pallets are handled and routed within a warehouse. Swisslog said this flexibility makes the system well suited to facilities with irregular layouts and changing storage demands.

The company said AgileStore can reduce reliance on forklifts while maintaining inventory accuracy through automation and control software.

“Warehouses today need automation systems that go beyond traditional shuttle limitations,” said Alexander Leitner, executive vice-president of strategy and markets, Swisslog. “The roaming pallet shuttle moves across aisles and levels, enabling efficient pallet handling and scalable performance as storage needs evolve.”

Swisslog is partnering with Eurofork to supply the roaming shuttle technology. The system supports multiple pallet types and can handle loads of up to 1,500 kilograms.

AgileStore can operate in both ambient and cold storage environments, including temperatures as low as -30 C, making it suitable for industries such as food and beverage, grocery and third-party logistics.

“With its reliable performance in both ambient and deepfreeze environments, AgileStore delivers the versatility that today’s diverse warehouse operations demand,” said Maurizio Traversa, CEO of Eurofork.

The system integrates with Swisslog’s SynQ software platform and other warehouse management systems, providing real-time control and inventory visibility. Swisslog said its modular design allows the system to scale as storage needs grow.
