Who’s on the move: April 13, 2026

Port of Montreal

The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) announced that Julie Gascon has ceased her position as president and chief executive officer, effective April 3.

A committee composed of members of the board of directors will ensure the leadership of the organization on an interim basis in close collaboration with the members of senior management, during the recruitment process to find a replacement.

“With the Contrecœur terminal expansion project actively progressing, the Port of Montreal is entering a new phase in its development, which will take place as part of a new strategic cycle for the MPA,” said Nathalie Pilon, chair of the board of directors of the MPA. “The organization is in an excellent position to fulfill its mandate and contribute to Canada’s competitiveness in global markets.”

Gascon started as president and CEO Feb. 12, 2024.

Port of Prince Rupert

The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) announced that its board of directors has appointed Kurt Slocombe as the organization’s next president and chief executive officer.

The selection is the result of an international search that began in October 2025.

Slocombe joined PRPA in 2019 as vice-president, operations, planning and infrastructure. He has an extensive background in gateway operations. Residing in Prince Rupert with his family since 2007, Slocombe moved to the community as part of the team that started operations at the then newly converted Fairview Container Terminal. During his time at the terminal, he held successive roles including director of operations and director, Gateway Operations Centre, a joint venture between DP World and CN.
