Transplace has appointed Craig Watson as the company’s managing director of Canada. Watson will oversee all transportation tanagement operations for Transplace’s Canada-based clients. He will be based out of the company’s Oakville, Ontario, offices and will report directly to Bob Daymon, senior vice-president of operations for the Northeast and Midwest. With more than 25 years of experience in senior-level roles within the logistics industry, Watson comes to Transplace from DB Schenker, where he held several leadership roles, including head of land transport and regional vice-president for freight forwarding. Watson also served as director of sales and marketing for TNT Express in Australia.
The Blockchain In Transport Alliance has elected Richard Greening, global director of technology for The DDC Group and its freight-focused division DDC FPO, to serve as co-chair of the alliance’s Bill Of Lading (BOL) Working Group. Josh Kolar, founder of Asset Balance Solutions, stepped down from the chair role. Bob Hitt of Salesforce, who was the former chair, and Greening of DDC were nominated for the position. After discussion, it was voted that Hitt would again assume the chair position and Greening would serve as co-chair.
Brian Hoekstra has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president of mergers and acquisitions, with Lawson Products, Inc. He will report directly to Michael DeCata, president and CEO. Hoekstra comes from W.W. Grainger where he served as senior director, mergers and acquisitions. Before Grainger, Hoekstra was manager, mergers and acquisitions with Clark Retail Enterprises and has held financial planning roles at AT&T and the Dial Corporation. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
Maria Zenaida “Zeny” Jones is the new vice-president of supply chain management for Western Dental. Jones comes to Western Dental with significant procurement and supply chain management experience in multisite healthcare. Previously she served as Southern California Service Area director for supply and services resource management for Dignity Health. Previously she held positions in purchasing, materials management, and supply logistics with Kaiser Permanente in Northern California, Pikeville Medical Center in Kentucky, Fresno Community Regional Medical Center, and other healthcare organizations. Jones is a Green Belt in Six Sigma and a Certified Resource and Materials Professional with over 30 years of multisite healthcare experience. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
