METRO workers ratify new agreement, ending six-month labour dispute

Unionized employees at METRO Inc.’s produce distribution centre in Laval, its transportation operations and head office have ratified a new collective agreement, ending a labour dispute that began March 30.

The agreement between METRO and workers represented by STTEUMR (CSN) took effect for five and a half years following a tentative deal reached Sept. 17.

Operations resumed gradually Sept. 27, the company said, while stores remained stocked during the dispute.

METRO said it will provide updates on the financial impact of the labour disruption as part of its regular financial results announcements.
