Port of Montreal introduces new executive structure

The Montreal Port Authority has announced a new executive structure aimed at supporting trade growth, supply chain resilience and the port’s long-term development within the St. Lawrence-Great Lakes corridor.

According to the authority, the reorganization is built around three priorities: execution, growth and transformation. A new executive vice-president, operations role will oversee the Contrecœur expansion project, port logistics and performance, infrastructure, marine operations, environmental initiatives, security and business continuity.

The authority said commercial, real estate, pricing and Grand Quai functions will report directly to the president and CEO as part of efforts to attract new cargo volumes and maximize the use of port lands.

A separate executive vice-president, operations and transformation role will oversee digital transformation, information technology, governance, strategic projects, human resources, procurement and legal affairs.

“Canada needs strong ports to diversify trade and seize opportunities in global markets,” said Paul Bird, president and CEO of the Montreal Port Authority. “With this new structure, we will be better positioned to meet the needs of businesses here at home.”

The authority said the changes are intended to strengthen the Port of Montreal’s role as a strategic trade gateway while supporting logistics operations serving Canada’s industrial heartland.
