“The Crane Advisor Tool provides a recommendation based on the input that the prospect provides,” says Edward Di Cesare, director of marketing, industrial crane products, region Americas. “There are four basic questions, all icon-driven, that take only seconds to answer. Based on the answers provided, an algorithm on the back end puts together a customized response that summarizes a peak product recommendation for that customer,” he continued.

Input can be received in either imperial or metric measurements.

The algorithm customizes the minutia of information available on many websites to provide a maximum of three crane configurations that may be ideal based on the customer’s stated requirements.

“The response provides product recommendations supported with features and benefits for each configuration. Each recommendation also has links to a specific product page, a brochure and a video. The interactive format can be saved or emailed to others in the organization,” says Di Cesare.

Most customers have concerns about whether the company they choose to partner with can support their product with parts and service. As the world’s largest crane service provider, Konecranes has credibility with respect to both its recommendation and assurance that parts and service will continue to be available.

The Crane Advisor Tool asks the user to supply the answers to four key questions — Industry, Capacity, Span and CMAA Duty Class.

“Buying an overhead crane is a complex endeavor,” says Di Cesare. “This approach will streamline a customer’s search in terms of identifying the right product for their needs. The customer can be better informed before ever meeting with a sales person. The Advisor Tool builds confidence and saves time, and in today’s business environment, time is money.”
