Descartes Systems Group has launched the Descartes Datamyne AI Agent, a conversational artificial intelligence tool designed to help sourcing, sales, supply chain and market intelligence teams analyze global trade data more quickly.
The AI capability is embedded in the company’s Descartes Datamyne trade intelligence platform and allows users to ask questions in natural language rather than building database queries. Descartes said the tool can reduce research and analysis time by up to 90 per cent, depending on user experience and query complexity.
The platform draws on trade data from 230 markets and adds more than 500 million shipment records annually. According to the company, users can access contextual answers, visualizations and underlying shipment records to examine supplier activity, product flows, market demand and competitive trends.
Brian Hodgson, general manager of trade intelligence at Descartes, said the product is aimed at helping companies navigate increasingly complex global trade conditions.
“Geopolitical disruption, tariff volatility and shifting sourcing patterns are making trade decisions more complex and time-sensitive,” Hodgson said.
The company said the AI agent can help users identify suppliers, monitor competitors, evaluate trade risks, develop sales opportunities and analyze changes in global markets using observed shipment activity.
Ken Wood, executive vice-president of product management at Descartes, said the tool is designed to pair AI-generated analysis with the underlying trade records used to produce it.
“The Agent analyzes shipment-level data and presents findings alongside the records and visual evidence supporting them, allowing users to verify conclusions, refine their questions and continue exploring without leaving the platform,” Wood said.
