PMET signs Matagami rail transshipment agreement for lithium project

PMET Resources has signed a letter of intent with the City of Matagami to support rail transshipment services for its Shaakichiuwaanaan lithium project in Quebec.

Under the proposed arrangement, spodumene concentrate would be trucked from the mine site to Matagami’s transshipment yard, where it would be transferred to rail cars for transport to port. According to the company, the agreement establishes a framework for infrastructure upgrades, operating arrangements and long-term transshipment services needed to support the logistics route to market.

“The LOI with Matagami marks another tangible step in advancing the infrastructure required to support the development of Shaakichiuwaanaan,” said Frédéric Mercier-Langevin, chief operating officer of PMET Resources. “Transshipment at Matagami is expected to provide a key link in our planned logistics chain, connecting concentrate trucked from the Project to onward rail transportation.”

According to the company, the parties aim to finalize a definitive commercial agreement before a final investment decision is made on the project.
