Trucking HR Canada and Samsara awarded a total of $10,000 to three post-secondary students through the inaugural Top Fleet Employers Scholarship program.
The scholarship is open to students whose parents work for companies recognized as Top Fleet Employers. According to the organizations, applicants submitted videos describing their parents’ role in transportation and logistics and the impact of the industry’s work on their families and communities.
The 2026 recipients were Jillian Rust of St. Thomas University, who received $5,000, Heysha Makwana of McMaster University, who received $3,000, and Nikolay Sazanovich of the University of Alberta, who received $2,000.
“It was inspiring to hear students describe the pride they have in their parents and the important work they do,” said Angela Splinter, president and CEO of Trucking HR Canada.
According to the organizations, interest in the program prompted an expansion from a single $5,000 scholarship to three awards totalling $10,000. A new application round is expected to open later this year for 2027 scholarships.
