Who’s on the move: November 21, 2016

A year after being named the top truck driver in Ontario, Bison Transport’s Jack Fielding notched the title of National Truck Driver of the Year. The award, established by the Canadian Trucking Alliance and sponsored by Volvo Trucks Canada, is the highest honour bestowed upon a truck driver in Canada who has maintained a collision-free driving record and demonstrated exemplary professionalism both on and off the road. Fielding – a truckload operator for Bison over the last 18 years – received the award during the opening breakfast at the OTA’s 90th annual executive conference in Toronto. Fielding has amassed over 3 million collision-free km throughout his 40-year career.

CSL president and CEO, Rod Jones was selected as co-Personality of the Year by the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) during the organization’s annual conference last week. Born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in the Bahamas, Rod Jones has devoted his 40-year professional career to the shipping industry. He joined Canada Steamship Lines in 1985 and became president and CEO of The CSL Group in 2008. Since 2014, he has also served as Chair of the Standard Club. He is a respected figure in the global shipping world, and well-known for his solid ethics and values around diversity, safety and the environment. Every year, the WISTA Personality of the Year award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the shipping industry, who embrace and champion diversity, inclusivity and equity, and whose passion and commitment for the industry and its people are sources of inspiration.

Alban Hoxha, chief technology officer of BSM Technologies Inc, will be leaving the organization to pursue other opportunities, effective January 20, 2017. The company has commenced a search for his replacement.

Lawrence “Skip” Eastman has been promoted to the role of CEO and president of the Twinlode Corporation. Eastman previously held the title of president at Twinlode Corporation. Dennis Hartman, who previously held the title of CEO, will continue to have an active role at the company as chairman of Twinlode Corporation’s board. With more than 40 years in the material handling industry, Eastman has vast experience managing projects that encompass rack, AS/RS, push back and flow-through storage systems. Before Twinlode Corporation, he was vice president at Steel King Industries.
